same here....sad days when we can't even rely on MS's Driver Certification...I did make a bit of headway on it though...I dl'ed the new SST software version through the link on the "about" page of the X52 Control Panel ( SO SLOW ---4-5 kbs/s, and I have cable that's rated at 5000 kbs/s (confirmed at DSL reports) ) need more speed Saitek ...after installing this (ver 4.3.3.2053) I was able to get 2 profiles working and 2 that are hopeless, so it's back to the drawing board for them I guess...so what's the scoop Saitek? is there a fix for this on the way b4 too many check Window's Update and download the defective driver? anyone else in this boat with Cool and I?

I've uninstalled the new drivers/software, deleted saitek files from my hard drive, deleted saitek registry entries and tried to install the drivers/software from the original disk but it still doesn't work. I can get it to load a profile with the old drivers/software but not all the assigned buttons work but they did previously. I do not want to have to format/reinstall windows just to get my saitek x52 working again. Any other advice would be appreciated. I'm running windows xp pro sp2.

MMMMMM, intterrrestingk

Downloaded version 4.3.3.2053 tonight (Australia) at 60k. 2.95Meg total.
I have noticed a slight difference with the new MS driver D/L, as compared to the previous version, it seems to be a bit too quick (not as fluid).

Still concerned about running the new SST though..................
Any guinea pigs out there?

Did you del the oem inf files for the bad Saitek drivers in C:\WINDOWS\inf folder as well.

I had no end of trouble getting WinXP Pro SP2 to ignore the updated MS stuff. I now have this in my OEM inf file (Class="Saitek Magic Bus") DriverVer=05/15/2003, 4.1.0.0 << (Sai0255.inf) DriverVer= 10/20/2004, 5.0.0.2000 <<

It's worth a look. When I was in trouble I del everything Saitek in the registry but forgot the OEM.inf files and Windows was still loading the duff MS drivers even though I did un install and del everything else - see -

My advice is wait 'till Martin is back to work tomorrow and for anybody thinking of updating -don't do it yet.

Ray

Another point worth a mention - look in msconfig for SaiMfd.exe and SaiSmart Now I'm not sure on this but virtually certain they were not there before I used the MS update and since then they loaded on start-up and as they used a chunk of memory I recently unticked both from loading. So far, even after rebooting, no adverse effects noticed. As I said I'm NOT SURE on that aspect so do so at your own risk although it's easy to put it back to where it was.

Thanks for the reply Ray, I did delete the oem files, I followed the UKSupports advice in this thread http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=7206
but unfortunately it didn't help. I'll do what you suggest and wait for them to return from their holiday.

yep I too followed all those BS steps but to no avail , however, we do have some good news, I recalled that when doing the install of the new drivers from Window's update, the installer did a System Restore Point...so I checked it and there it was...done the Restore and all is back to normal...no new driver but who cares hehehe, the old ones with the old software work fine !!!...check your restore points folks, you should have one too, unless you have it disabled or these drivers were available for other OS's also.... Good Luck and hope it helps!!!

I had the same problom with the X52 i just got,Saitek help said to go and click on the link also and still did not fix it,what I just did was clean everything out of my PC (reg inc) and reinstall the drives I got with it,and it works just fine now.

You will want to use some reg cleaner when you do it as some Saitek stuff will not delete from the reg,but becuse you will be deleting stuff the reg cleaner will pick up on invalade ext and delete the rest of it.

LOL just got my X52 yesterday. So far its been a joke. I have to unplug and plug back in the joystick from throttle from time to time just to get to work. Now I went to install there great SST software so I could program one stupid button so I could use my teamspeak from my joystick... If select the profile my computer crashes out...

I’m not sure what info would be helpful on this issue. But I’m running XP (32bit) with SP2 on an AMD machine with everything updated to current.

Since the drivers and software on saiteks own site seems to be worthless. Does anyone know of a stop where you can download older SST. Maybe one that works?

Question What The?

To Mr Saitek.

After Reading all these post's about the problems with the drivers etc..etc..
I am now wondering why I am recieving my brand new X52 by mail next week??

If all these fine people are having so much trouble then why should I waist my money on this hardware???

I do have mates that use the X52 and yes they did worn me about some problems.
But being keen to have what I believed the best joystick ever, well I just went out and purchased it over the net.

Now all you that are having trouble are now saying what a dip head..Hum well I hope not because I assure you If this X52 does not opperate as it should then you Mr Saitek will get it back..and I will have my money refunded.

But lets hope that this is only a minor issue that can be easily fixed so that all of your CUSTOMERS!!!!!can use the X52 as it should be used with no pain.....For games......

So over to you Mr Saitek.....

This message will self distruct if not replied too by two full moons.

The number of people having trouble is actually very small compared to the number of people who have no issues - any posts that you read on a support forum are going to be from people having trouble (otherwise they wouldn't be posting). If you want to be sure that you have no issues then just use the CD that comes with the stick.

I bought a X52 thinking it was a bargain. The X52 works great but when I reboot, it will Blue Screen with the Saitek drivers I got from their website. It even Blue Screens when I tried to boot into Safe Mode, so this driver has some serious issues.

I have to leave the X52 unplugged in order to bootup normal. Vista, X52 amd X52 driver/software is a very bad mix.

I am using Windows Vista (32-bit) if it makes any difference.

Is there much difference between the X52 Pro and standard X52? I think I loaded the Pro drivers for Vista and it worked better. I switched to X52 driver once I located the driver.
