I updated the software to v. 4.3.3.2053 and had crashes. The only way I could then enter windows again was using F8 during reboot. I then reinstalled the original software. After rebooting the PC everything was fine but I like to have the latest stuff insalled, so I insisted and went to windows update to update the driver and installed the new SST (4.3.3.2053).

Now, each time I boot, the profile launcher (the little icon in the lower right tray) doesn't load. No way I can load it using the start button in windows, it can only be loaded when unpluging / repluging the controller.

It works that way, but I would really like it to work the way it's intended. I know you're looking into the problem, that's why I included the steps which led me into it in the hope it may help you resolve.

I had the same trouble. After hours of messing about and attempting to re-intalling even the old software, I don't know how many times, plus modifying my Profile(s), I gave up and did a restore on XP.

Everything is now working - EXCEPT - my MFD goes off after a while, and especially in the dark. Can anyone help me here?

However, just because the icon isn't there it doesn't mean that you can't use the stick - you just have to go through the slightly longer process of opening the SST icon on the desktop, opening the profile in there and then loading it. You should find that the programming still works.

Mine dosn't load up! or work!...someting has killed off two of my profile's!

Any news about this issue? Over am month now since you last post about that and I doubt that this is a seldomly occuring problem cause I know 3 guys (all with an X52) here in my hometown with the same problem. Would be a strange coincidence
Sorry to say that but in my whole career as a computer scientist I never saw a any other computer devices company taking so much time for fixes of quite obvious bugs than Saitek.
The deinstallation routine e.g. of the new SST which just reboots without asking the user if an old-version is found (is this fixed now at least?) is something that should never happen. Seems either you don't care much of your customers or your QA-department should do some more homework before relasing drivers...

My X52 is performing perfectly - with the old drivers!

When I purchased the X52, January 2005, new drivers were being tested then. I agree with everything you say about Saitek - good product - very poor tech support.

I'm not a programmer but do spend large amounts of money updating PC's and trying the latest products available and in 10 years I have never found any manufacturer with such a poor grasp on the technical aspect of their product.

The Saitek I have works with the old drivers and I used them with my latest full Computer upgrade with no problems - I have to be thankful for that. I'm in no hurry to test new drivers from Saitek again but will keep an eye on this thread just out of interest.

Regards

Ray

The ONLY problem I"ve had is having to disconnect the stick power to get it to work again.

Using the drivers etc off the cd and it works fine alla time. Now if my skill level would only increase to match the equipment. Going from a logicrap 3d extreme to the 52 is a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig jump but I persevere.

I also did the driver rollback but didn't work with new SST (June 2005). I did get it to work by then reinstalling original SST, select to overwrite newer file with older version, and when the HID driver discovery came back I chose "Install from a list or specific location", "Don't search, I'll choose which driver to install" and selected the 2003 drivers. I'm guessing the same result from just reinstalling SST from the original disc without driver rollback. Not happy that I had to go to this length to fix though...

I did what mgoliber had to do also.(2003 drivers) The setup routine for the new drivers and SST software is simply flawed. Don't get me wrong, the X52 is fantastic, with the original first time setup. I'm sure someone is or will be working on an upgraded installer soon. After all they are listed as beta in the forum. The support here is great. "Beta" is the key word.

"All of these drivers are currently unsigned by Microsoft, however, they all actually pass the WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) signing procedure. We'll be submitting all these drivers for signing in the near future and I'll replace the unsigned ones with the signed ones as they become available. Any that have been signed will be marked with an asterix (*).
When installing these versions, do not uninstall your previous version of drivers/software first - the installation will remove the previous versions as part of the install process."

That last part is what most of us are haveing a problem with.
