Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed plugin available

Hi all,

Public alpha for AstroMech is available at http://astromech.idolatry.org/.

It's a pilot statistics recorder/viewer for SWG written in C# with full support for the X52 Pro.

Great tool, I was just hoping for something more in the lines of a Nav Computer.

Something where you can scroll through all available HS points on the MFD with the softbuttons and then press start to initiate the hyperjump.

Unfortunatly I'm not that good at systemprogramming to write something like that myself.

I'd love to be able to do that (and more) but we can't send commands to a game with the MFD buttons. It can read data only (and SWG doesn't provide much data to read).

Can't you do a sendkeys command or something like that? Something that just sends keystrokes? This would be enought.

Yes (although I'd be using SendInput and not SendKeys - as far as I'm aware, SendKeys can't send to a DirectX app).

However, there are limitations. The app would either have to type out the /hyperspace command and hope the player has set up SWG for modal chat, or send keyboard shortcuts, such as CTRL-SHIFT-1, that the player would have to bind to macros that ran the specific hyperspace command.

Many star systems, with 4 hyper points each = lots of macros. Lots of macros = lots of room for error, and the player would have to unbind any SWG commands mapped to the set of keyboard shortcuts I chose.

Would that set up headache be worth being able to scroll through the list on the MFD, instead of just hitting the Hyperspace button in the game GUI?

Edit: and there's also the problem of working around whatever anti-bot code SOE has written. Not sure if there is any in SWG, I've never tried sending keystrokes to the game, but being an MMO I'd expect them to limit this kind of stuff.

Ah, okay, now I understand what you mean.

I guess I have to write the macros and use the F-Keys.

Or just bind a key to Hyperspace

You have got me thinking about commands I could run from the MFD. Not sure what would be helpful, though - don't want to take your hands off the stick during combat to scroll through the MFD and find some option.

Overloads have the same problem as hyperspace commands (would have to type them out or assume the specific droid command was in the correct toolbar slot). I have chat channel scrolling in the X52 Pro profile on the site.

Any other ideas?
