Uninstall? Hardware error?

I first installed the driver from the CD. I was asked to plug in the gamepad and rerun the installation. It ends with "Incomplete installation".

XP says that the USB unit is malfuntioning when the gamepad is plugged in.

Is this a hardware error or driver error?

Where can the drivers be found? http://www.saitek.com/uk/supp/gamepads.htm says nothing about Impact. Is it a "Mega World pads (X Series)"? There is no FAQ and the Latest Driver/Click here gives "The page cannot be found".

I also have problems to uninstall the driver (XP Home/DirectX 9.0C), but perhaps it was not installed at all.
I find nothing* in add/remove programs in the control panel.
I find nothing* in C:\program or "C:\program files".
I find nothing* in the start menu.
I find nothing* on the desktop.

That sounds like a hardware error - are you able to test it on another PC to see if it does the same thing there?

hello everyone,

I have the same problem with this gamepad, but I only get the crashes no blue screen and had problems with booting Windows. The rumble is not working at all.

I have downloaded and installed the driver from the Mega-world page, but the rumble still isn't working. I had only one crash so far.

Stormtrooper: the file you linked does not work, seems it is corrupt. can you give the link to the file instead?

does anone have solutions to this driver problem?

I find it very disconcerting that I buy a product and have to spend two hours on the internet trying to make it work(it still doesn't properly) Windows is widely used and I find it hard to understand why there are driver problems, especially problems that go unfixed in an expediant manner.

any help to alleviate this frustration would be very much appreciated.

KK

The file works, i have downloadet the file and tested it at this time.
It is a zip file, you need something like Winrar or Winzip.

Sorry, i have no link, Mega-World send me this file with an email.
It works 100%. Don't forget to deinstall the old drivers.

Hello Stormtrooper,

Thanks for the reply.

I downlaoded it again and now it installed, but this driver does not work for me.

I uninstalled the previous driver, then installed the new one you gave. I had about 3 seconds of usage/w the rumble. I was testing it, one second the rumble was working the next....nothing. Now the left/right joysticks won't work, the rumble function is not working, and the option butions in the test screen are gone.
I should state that when looking at the properties box it is reading a "USB Game Wheel" should it not read gamepad or something of the like?

No, my gamepads show USB Game Wheel, too.
On what USB do you use the gamepad?

I have notice on USB 1.1 they don't work correct, on USB 2.0 there is no problem.

I have the X6-80 http://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/...ct/371290.html

But i had to load the same driver like X6-38V from Mega-World.
I don't know how Mega-World had create the new driver, maybe now there is a difference.

I don't remember any USB compatability warning on the box or packaging. After three days, of tinkering i have lost my patience with Saitek. The drivers just don't work and there seems to be no fix.
I think the driver you attached is a quick fix driver from another peice of hardware.
I too have contacted both companies on the issue, but have yet to recieve reply

There was no warning on the box, but my old gamepads don't work correct on USB 1.1, too.

My problems are away with this driver, befor my two PC's crashes and in Tomb Raider Legends there was no rumble function.

Here is a picture from the driver.

Usb 1.1?

I've now tested my gamepad on XP PRO with USB 2.0. It works.

I found how to test/uninstall the driver in "Start/Control Panel/Game Controllers".

My own computer only have USB 1.1. Will the driver be fixed to work for USB 1.1?

There is no issue with USB 1.1 that we're aware of. Which USB chipsets are you 1.1 guys running?
