Hi I have the same problem as matejazika.

I recently bought a new PC and assembled it myself. I kept my old one (where my X45 was working fine).

On my new PC when I plug in the x45 it says the USB device is not recognized and it's malfuncioning, yet if I plug it in in my old PC it recognises it straight away. Bare in mind that both machines have now a fresh copy of winxp, both the same windows updates and latest drivers.

Any other USB device I plugged in my new machine has been working (USB external DVD drive, external hard drive, printer, external floppy drive, USB flash drive, etc), just the x45 does not, I am out of options. I have tried every USB port.

New PC:
WinXP SP2
Abit AN52 board
AMD 64 X2 6400+ Dual
4GB Corsair DDR2 PC2-6400C5
EVGA Geeforce 8800 Ultra 768MB GDDR3

Old PC:
WinXP SP2
Abit IS10
Pentium 4 3.2ghz
2GB Corsair DDR TwinX 3200C2
ATI Radeon 9800XT 256MB

Any ideas please? Thanks

Hi,

It's due to the USB chipset in the new PC not working correctly with the device.

Some people have found that running the device through a USB Hub helps.

Some people have found that the following helps:

Click Start>Control Panel and then open the System icon in there (you may have to click Performance and Maintenance first). Click Hardware at the top of the window that comes up and then click Device Manager. In there click the plus sign next to the Universal Serial Bus Controllers category and do the following:

For each USB Root Hub entry, double click on it, click Power Management at the top of the window that comes up and then take the tick out of the box on that screen. Once you've done that for all USB Root Hub entries, restart the PC and see if that makes any difference.

But failing that, the only thing that will help is to get a PCI USB card installed in your PC. As a PCI USB card has its own chipset it gets around situations like this where the motherboard's USB chipset is having difficulty with a particular device. Installing one and running the controller from that should solve the issue. A PCI USB card typically retails for around £8.

Unfortunately the power trick did not work. I'll keep searching the web I might come to some other solutions. The x45 I only use it to play X3 The reunion and nothing else, I don't really want to spend more money unless absolute necessary.

Although, in the long run I might have to, since I'll probally come across other devices not working. ....sigh

Thanks anyway.
