I've got the same problem with my P3000.. it works fine with the keyboard but then again I hate playing sports games with it so :( .
I'd like to know about a possible solution as well.

Panther05 - Click Start>Run, type regedit and click OK. In the Registry Editor browse to the following folders in order:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
MediaProperties
PrivateProperties
Joystick
OEM
And then find the VID_06A3&_PID_FF0C folder – click on it and then look on the right side of the Registry Editor; there should be an entry called OEMName that has an ‘ab’ icon next to it. Double click on that icon and a window will appear called Edit String. In that window you can see that it has the name of the pad – which is probably currently saying Saitek Cyborg Force Rumble Pad. Click in that line and then press the right cursor on the keyboard so that there is a flashing cursor at the end of that line. Now change it so that it reads as just Saitek P2500 and then click OK. Close the Registry editor, run the game and you should now be fine.
For the P3000 though, you're going to need to wait for that patch from EA that I referenced in the other thread about this.

I initially ran into the same "spinning player" problem with NHL 2006 (using a P3000) but after installing the patch on the EA site that problem is now solved. The new problem? The number mappings are all wrong. Pass is where shoot is supposed to be, etc. Arrrgh. Anyone have any tips?
In a desperate attempt to fix the problem I downloaded the most recent SST drivers for the P3000. Unfortunately the install program crashes immediately after asking the first set of questions. I'm surprised not to see a thread here about this problem. Can anyone help here?

Why don't you just use the control mapping screen built into the game?

For some reason it won't read them - you would need to ask EA if there's any way around this.

Have you obtained the latest patch for the game from EA?

Yes I've tried the latest patch.
But I've heard so many things to call the Pad in the registry:
Saitek P2500
Saitek Cyborg Force Rumble Pad
Saitek Force Rumble Pad
Which one is the correct one?

Try either:
P2500
or
Cyborg Force Rumble Pad

I had the sme "spinning player problem" which was fixed with the patch but my button mappings are all screwed up too. When I try to remap the buttons using the in game screen the buttons I press on the controller aren't the ones recognized by the game. For example if I want to map button 2 on the controller to shoot I click on the shoot function and press button 2. The game thinks I pressed button 4. They are all messed up. Any fixes??

Okay,
But once you've finished remapping the buttons does each button do what you asked it to?

Is there any way to get the P220 to work in NHL 2006?
Have tried patch #2 but the marker just keep the menu rolling and if you try to start a game the player just spins.

No, I'm afraid not - EA didn't support that pad.

The P1500 is another pad that EA haven't supported, I'm afraid. Sorry.

I had experienced the P3000 spinning player problem but then installed the EA patch and it worked again. Sigh. I did have to remap the buttons because they were all wrong but i thought I was all set. Wrong. I have installed EA patch #3 now (the european patch) and I'm back to spinning again. Arrrgh. Anyone know how to stop this?

I am having the same sort of problem. I can cope with the button numbers it tells you being different to the ones on the controller, but the problem that I have got is that I cannot find the button to activate a fight. And worse still it would seem that EA dont allow you to change this button in the contoller configuration.
Is there anyway that I can fix this or solve it.
btw: I am using a Saitek P2500
Thanks
