View Full Version : Loading SST Profiles at startup

Hi!
When Windows XP starts, the Profiler software starts, and I can rightclick on it to choose which profile to load. But is there a way to make it load a profile automatically? Right now I want my Battlefield 2 profile to load everytime, I googled but didn't get an answer.
Thanks in advance,
Baines

I'll take that as a NO then.

Hi,
Well the above link that Buff used will work for the Gamers' Keyboard too for making a profile the default.
If you just want to load a profile though the command line is:
prfact -v-f"C:\Program Files\Saitek\Software\profilename.dat" -A

The link gives a useful solution for other items but the poster says it doesn't work for an X52. Is there anything for an X52 to automatically load a profile either on startup of system or a particular game?
My >5 year old Afterburner 1 can do it so surely the X52 can...
Thanks for any suggestions.

Apparently it was a deliberate design decision taken at the start of developing SST not to have automatic profile selection.

Thanks for reply.
If that's the case  , the person who made the design decision should be flogged for an hour every day (at 3 in the morning).

Seconded. And the person who decided to leave out the option to invert any axis.

Is there a source that lists all the prfact command switches?

This doesn't work for my P990. Win XP gives an error message saying it can't find prfact. Is there any workaround?
Thanks.

No, I'm afraid it doesn't work for the programming software and drivers for the newer products (and the next update for all the products will also stop it working for the older ones too).
As for switches for the prfact command, the only ones you need to know are:
-A: Activates the profile
-c: Clears the profile
-D: Sets the profile as the default profile

I've tried this, but all I get is the error:
"A previous attempt to install the Magic Bus failed. Would you like to try again now? [yes][no]"

Sorry, I fixed my problem. I just reinstalled the drivers and the software. It works great now for assigning a profile, now how do you clear the profile? Your previous post said:
-A: Activates the profile
-c: Clears the profile
-D: Sets the profile as the default profile
So would that be :
"C:\Program Files\Saitek\Software\PrfAct.exe" -v-f"C:\Program Files\Saitek\Software\YOURNAME.dat" -c
or
"C:\Program Files\Saitek\Software\PrfAct.exe" -c
Neither one works.. was it a type and should be a capital -C?

I do not have prfAct.exe on my system.
Any idea where I can download that single file?
I am also looking for a while to auto-activate profiles...if there is a newer way, I'd love to know.

The questions (preferences) posted here had no effect on Saitek. Is there any plan to add this sorely missed feature? Did the flogged programmer die? Did he fall asleep? Part of the punishment should have been to keep him awake, with water torture, glueing his eyelids open, whatever it takes until the problem was fixed! Do we need a new whipping boy?
There were numerous updates to the programming software since. Why is there no desire on Saitek part to improve the interface and its customer relations/satisfaction? Do we still have any pride in our product, or that kind of thinking is out of style?
I am programing for a living, and are regularly flogged by customers for smaller oversight than this. In a software that one wrote and familiar with, it should take max. a week (complete with functional verification) to implement this feature. Some programs offer such a far advanced fututristic enhancement option to the user after a selection is made:
"Do you want to make this profile your default profile? y/n".
Could it be as simple as that? Is there someone at Saitek who thinks this kind of improvement is in his job description?

Hi,
It seems you haven't downloaded the latest version of the software then because the feature is in there now. If you have the latest version of the software (ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/sst_171006_32.exe) then simply right click the icon in your systray, right click the profile you want to set as default and then left click on Set as Default Profile.

Why not just create a batch file to run prfact and then the application you want to run?

Hello UKsupport,
if you have the neweset software, why isn't your link http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.htm leading to the the most up-to-date version? If you set X-52 and Windows XP 32 bit, the main d/l page still gives you the SST_151205_32.exe. Should everybody d/l the new one you just mentioned, or it's not for X-52? If it's okay, do you also have the appropriate new drivers to the software at some hidden place?

No need for a newer driver - the file I reference here will work fine with the driver from the download page. We haven't updated the link yet because we plan to replace all the current links with the new drivers and software which is due out soon.
