I mistakenly posted the "special characters" thread in Common Fixes. I've already copied it to the correct sub-forum, Software and Drivers, so please feel free to delete it from Common Fixes.
Thanks.
ps: I've read the notice warning to avoid posting threads to this sub-forum, but it seems there's no other sub-forum to post to. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Re. your problem -just to confirm that you are using the keyboard Shift button in combination with another character & not a button on the X52 set as Shift (as it's a different type of Shift entirely)?
e.g. on a UK keyboard Shift +3 gives the £ sign.
If I assign keyboard Shift+3 in SST to a button in a profile & test using Notepad/Wordpad when I press that button I do get the £ sign.
