The Magic Mouse and Keyboard are part of the programming software for your controller. Just let them install by clicking Next on their respective installers. They will not interfere with your normal mouse or keyboard.

Have you tried updating to the latest mouseware drivers for the Logitech?

Ranger
31st August 2005, 15:50
You can't update the MX510 drivers
9.80 is the only driver specifically designed for the MX510 and is also the one supplied with the mouse.

Okay,

How exactly is it interfering with the mouse and which controller do you have?

If I'm correct. The magic mouse makes the Mouse Pointer move on it's own. It's a known issue.......I've been told it's due to a missalined magnet in the stick of early versions.........I have the same problem with mine, with a Microsoft mouse. Hope this helps

No, the magic mouse just enables the ability to program mouse commands in the programming software which includes enabling the mini stick on the throttle to move the mouse. If the pointer is moving on its own though then that indicates a fault with the mini stick on the X52 and the stick needs returning for an exchange.

This a copy of a post elsewhere and a repeat of an old problem

QUOTE
After a C disk loss I am reinstalling X45 programmes. I had the same problem before but forget the solution. With the software special mouse and keyboard drivers installed I get a lock on either "find" or some other folder/file on my desktop. In other words any key I press locks to the same file. I had to delete the drivers to stop that.
Solution??

Well, I notice that the mouse on my system will move if I move the right controller joystick.. whether i want it to or not..

Very dissatisfied with this controller! Think I'm going looking for a major brand name controller, that has a proven track record with their controlles and software.

Hi,

That will only be happening if you've programmed the right stick to do so - it's not something that happens by default.

I purchased a Saitek P2600 Controller and installed the software for it. How do I disable Magic Keyboard. It has disabled my ZBoard gaming controller, and will not allow me to reenable it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I also have a problem with Saitek Magic Mouse. I'm running my Cyborg Evo on Laptop Computer and it seems like the Saitek Magic Mouse interferes my Touchpad. I noticed that before I installed Saitek software, the touchpad worked fine. But after that, it screwed up. Whenever I plugged off my usb mouse, the touchpad is no longer work. I checked in the control panel and I saw that there are three Mouse devices installed on my comp. These are a built-in touchpad, which will normally activate itself whenever my usb mouse is not plugged in, an usb mouse and a Saitek Magic mouse. My assumption on this incident is that WinXP sees the Saitek Magic Mouse as a plugged in device as same as the usb one. So, when I plugged off the usb mouse, the touchpad still not activated because there is another mouse plugged in, the Saitek Magic Mouse.

Now, the question is "Am I right?"

If not, can you tell me what's wrong and if you can help me with any soulution to restore my touchpad I would be appreciated. Thankz in advance.

Problem Solved...!
I tried to disable the Saitek Magic Mouse and KazAmmm...Heaven Bless!!! It works...! My beloved touchpad is now back in function.

I too have this issue with my PC Gaming Mouse.

Saitek, you have to understand that your software install is confusing. I'll explain:

The Problem
I downloaded the latest drivers from:
http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/down/drivers.htm

When I installed on Windows XP it said "New Hardware found: Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard"
But my mouse is a "Saitec PC Gaming Mouse". I have a "Logitech Office Pro" keyboard.
My PC Gaming Mouse manual says nothing about Magic Mouse or Keyboard.
Clearly, the only thing a reasonable user can assume is that your software has incorrectly identified my mouse and keyboard. After many years of enduring bad drivers from other companies, I get scared in this situation. I will always cancel an install I believe to be in error.

The Fix
Let the user know what's up. Display the actual hardware he/she purchased:
New Hardware Found: Saitec PC Gaming Mouse
Then, let the user know they are getting special software:
Installing software for Saitec PC Gaming Mouse:
* Magic Mouse driver
* Magic Keyboard driver
This way, you give the user confidence to click OK when you need them to, getting the required software on the machine, which maximizes the chances of making your product work the first time.

Then you get fewer mad people like me, trying to get your stuff to work.

Hi,

As you can see in the attached picture, we already tell you that these devices are going to install and that they're required for the programming to work.

Richard,

That dialog box dramatically oversimplifies things. Reading it, most users would get the impression that a "Magic mouse and keyboard" software driver will be loaded.

In reality, FOUR HARDWARE devices will be loaded, using four separate wizards.

Let's breifly go over the install process, using the current driver available at ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/gmouse/GMouse32_V2_0.exe

I am using Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2, upgraded online from my original Service Pack 1 version that came with my computer. That last bit causes lots of trouble downline.

When downloaded and run, you get the "Saitek SST Setup Wizard" dialog, which gives no hint of what is to come.
Next, you get hit with a "Hardware Installation" dialog, with this text:The software you are installing for this hardware:
Saitek Gaming Mouse (USB)
Has not passed the Windows Logo Testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing. The button "STOP Installation" is highlighted. Click "Continue Anyway".
Then you will see the "Files Needed" dialog, with this text: The file 'hidclass.sys' on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD is needed. Type the path where the files are located, then click OK. The only tiny issue is, while my copy of XP is completely legitimate, I only have the Service Pack 1 CD that came with my computer. I updated to Service Pack 2 online. Your software isn't smart enough to go after the real files, which are located in \Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386. Virtually all of your users in this situation won't be able to find the proper files. They will just screw it up, or give up.
You think you are finished with this? No--you go through steps 2 & 3 again for the file mouclass.sys.
Finally you get to the screen Richard shows above, with the vague wording noted. But instead of the "drivers" you expect to be loaded, you see:
The "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog appears, prompting you to install software for "Saitec Magic Keyboard". Now, this is highly anamalous behaviour for any hardware install I've seen, for three reasons: This should have happened first, when I plugged the mouse in. It should identify the actual hardware being installed. It should only happen once.
So, you check "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and hit OK. You think you're over, but this happens four times, for: Saitek Magic Keyboard, HID Keyboard Device, Saitec Magic Mouse, and HID-compliant mouse. Lets see, that gives the user four more chances to hit the wrong option on the dialog, or cancel.

This is the condensed version. It took me four hours in all, involving research on this forum, to decipher what was going on.

The problem is, you guys at Saitek have done this for so long, that it is second nature to you, and you have no clue how hard this is for a new user.

Well, maybe you do have an idea. You basically admit as much in your manual:
Nearly all the products that are returned to us as faulty are not faulty at all - they just have not been installed properly. May I suggest you fix the install, and stop blaming the poor user. Tell the user exactly what is going to happen. Do the stupid Windows Logo Testing that Microsoft wants you to do. And make some effort to find the required support files for the user.

I have screenshots of all of this, which I intended to post here, but couldn't. I can send them to you offline.

Richard, you're just the support guy, cleaning up for the poor design, lack of testing, and mistakes of the software developers who put together this mess. You're only doing your job, so please don't take this as beating up on you.

I'm not taking it as any beating up on me, but you have to realise that if we could get rid of those dialogue windows then we would. It's Windows that insists on doing things that way and there's nothing that we can do to stop them appearing.

That said, the hidclass.sys install issue you're getting is not typical for most people; it's just that your Windows installation doesn't know where its own files are, which is something that can happen in some people's cases. Again, there's not really much that we can do about that either!

Also, you're misunderstanding what the Magic Mouse and Keyboard are - you say you expect them to appear when you plug the mouse in, but the reason why that doesn't happen is because they're nothing to do with the mouse. The Magic Mouse and Keyboard, as explained by the dialogue, are part of the programming software and are required for that to work.

Finally, you say that the amount of install dialogues gives people the possibility to choose the wrong options four times... but that's not really the case seeing as we've already told you what option to choose.

The Magic Mouse and Keyboard are part of the programming software for your controller. Just let them install by clicking Next on their respective installers. They will not interfere with your normal mouse or keyboard.

Here's the problem:

Why should I have to let it install this Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse software? I don't know how it will affect my computer. The funny thing is I didn't have this problem before. When I installed my first X-52, it didn't ask me to install these devices every time the computer started up.

What I don't understand is why these devices are part of the programming software for a joystick. If I wanted to installed these devices, I would have bought them. Sometimes less is more. There's no need for other devices to be part of the software of a completely different device.

The joystick works great, but the software could use a slight rework.

Asking us to just let the software install itself is not a solution, so don't fool yourself into thinking that it is. Afterall, it's evident that numerous people are having problems after letting the Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard software install.

It seems to me that the problem was putting devices on software that don't belong there. Like I said: less is more.

if you don't install the programming software but purely use in game mapping then you won't get asked.
If however, you want to use the X52 to it's fullest that means installing the programmable drivers which will then install these as it works by emulating a keyboard & a mouse. If you let them install once you shouldn't be asked every boot.
I can tell you for a fact that other game controllers with similar functionality from other companies do exactly the same thing although they may call them slightly different names.

Do you not understand that is just the name of the drivers? My X-52 popped up saying magic mouse and keyboard, i had a split second of "WTF?" then remembered I had just read that it was the saitek driver, and the stick won't work right without them. You can't blame a company because you chose to not read, and if you did/do read, you don't understand they are not installing a mouse and keyboard, but are in fact installing the drivers for whatever product you purchased. And it says just that, and people from Saitek are telling you this, fellow users are telling you this, yet you still don't understand, and are going to miss out on the best parts of the X-52.

So....your problem, and anyone else in this boat thinking Saitek is trying its best to SABOTAGE your current mouse/keyboard with its drivers, is not Saiteks problem. Choosing to deny installation of drivers, uninstalling drivers, and components of your product, is going to cause your product to malfunction. And coming here to point the finger at Saitek (the devils company), and their evil magic mouse for somehow making you remove vital components, is not fair to the people trying to help you.

I revive this thread because I did this too:

The Problem
I downloaded the latest drivers from:
http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/down/drivers.htm

When I installed on Windows XP it said "New Hardware found: Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard"
But my mouse is a "Saitec Cyborg Mouse". I have a "<insert keyboard name>" keyboard.

At my first try I cancelled the Magic stuff, thinking it was some error windows had made. After the installation was done, I realized that it was supposed to be like that, and that I had installed incorrectly. That left me with the Saitek Cyborg Mouse configuration shortcut on the desktop, but no programming software.

I then decided to have another go for it, I downloaded the latest driver & installed, also installing the Magic-components. When I finished, I discovered that there was no SST program or .exe that I could run. After browsing the forums I found that the setup was supposed to create a folder in the start menu, with this .exe. I suspect that I, due to my first attempt on installing the mouse software, fubared the SST installation, and now can't install it properly.

Any ideas on how to fix?
- JLY

Go to your C:\WINDOWS\Temp\Saitek\Saitek_SST_Software_SD6_32_ Software\00000001 directory and run the software_loc_9.msi file - that should get the software installed.

Hi,

Here is a basic guide for getting your buttons on your mouse assigned and profiled. If that does not generate a reaction from the mouse in say notepad, then install the SST using the above post that refers to the software_loc_9.msi file.

Assigning Button Commands

The best way to do this is to have next to you the default keyboard commands, for actions of the game that you want to set to your pad. It may be the case that all functions (binoculars, quick save etc) will not fit so make sure you wisely choose the most important ones (jump, reload, use etc).

To assign a keyboard button, go to the box in the profile editor where the button on the pad you want to assign is situated.

Left click inside the box, a cursor will appear along with a green tick, a red cross and a red circle.

Press the keyboard button you want assigned to the pad button. This will now appear in the white box next to the cursor.

Click the green tick and this will be assigned. Name the command and press enter.

If you are unhappy with your assignment and wish to change it simply, left click the box to select, then right click and select delete.

That, as they say, is that. When you are happy with your profile click the profiler button (the little blue one next to the device type box), then press the save icon on the opposite side. You can then right click your pad icon and then select your new profile from the list.

A good way to test your profile is to open up wordpad and pressing the buttons to see that they all work.

Then start your game and blast away.

p.s your profiles are stored in either shared documents (XP) or public documents (Vista)

Hi,I've just finished reading all of the posts concerning the x52 joystick drivers.I've had my x52 pro for about three months and really like the stick, but why is the installation wizard still trying to load drivers for a Ideazon 'z'board which to my knowledge isn't even a saitek product?

UKSupport

Sounds like you've installed the Ideazon drivers at some point on your PC and they have taken over the keyboard bus - it may be that when we're trying to install our Magic Keyboard that Windows is getting confused and trying to install the drivers for the Zboard.

You would need to completely clean your PC of Ideazon's drivers and that should help.
