I have had the X52 since December and no problems.Just did a reformat and fresh windows install.

Everything is sweet except my stick. It will not install the drivers of the disc at all.Invalid data or error code 28?

It is recognized when i plug it in to any port including my belkin pci card with two high speed ports. Then it shows in device manager under Human interface devices with an exclamation mark.

I found this on windows update..

Saitek - Input Devices - Saitek X52 Flight Stick (USB)

I am having the exact smae problem had the joystick since January. $150 paperweight. But it happened initially. Error while installing drivers. UK Support here told me to update with Windows Update. I got the same thing as you 0kb etc. which meant wtf are you downloading and obviously it would fail. So I haven't been able to use it at all.

Have you left it plugged in & forced a new windows update? It SHOULD recognize the stick & install the drivers accordingly...no promises though.

Hope this helps.

Okay,

First unplug your controller, click Start>Run and type

nx -Mu -Sk

(case sensitive) and click OK. Now go to Control Panel and run the Add/Remove Programs icon. Remove all Saitek entries in the list of programs and then go to the C:\Program Files directory and delete the Saitek folder. Restart your computer and the files will all be uninstalled.

Now browse to your C:\Windows\Inf folder and look for the OEM0.inf file. Find the highest numbered OEMXX.inf file and double click on it - a Wordpad screen will open up with information in it. You're looking for any lines that refer to Saitek (usually at the top of the window). If you don't see any such info close that window and open the next OEMXX.inf file - so if you started on, say, OEM30.inf then you'd now open OEM29.inf.

If you find any that refer to us then close the window and delete that OEMXX.inf file along with its accompanying OEMXX.pnf file. Go through all of them until you have deleted any files that mention us.

Now do a search for files in Windows using the following search string:

sai*.*

Once it's finished finding any files delete them - files only though, don't delete any folders.

Now restart and try using Windows Update again.

Hang on - you've got over 30,000 OEMxx files in C:\Windows\Inf? That's kind of worrying! Which anti virus are you running and do you have any spyware scanners running too?
