Hi,
A freind of mine jsut got an X45. When he tried to go in and calibrate the controller, he could see the test section, but no calibration tab at all. All he has is test and about. He tried downloading the latest drivers and it still had no effect. Does anyone know of a fix for this?
Thanks

Hi,
You don't need a calibration tab - the stick is self-calibrating. If it is looking off-centre then try the following:
Unplug the controller, click Start>Run, type regedit and click OK. In the Registry Editor browse to the following folders in order:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
MediaProperties
PrivateProperties
DirectInput
And delete the VID_06A3&PID_053C (or VID_06A3&PID_2541) folder. Plug the controller back in, rotate the stick and move the throttle and rudder fully a couple of times and see if that has fixed it.

I have the same problem. The funny thing is I got the Calibration somewere along the line but I had to return the Stick I had and get a replacment and I have never been able to get it again.
One reason I would like to recalibrate is so I can limit the movement of some of the control. I dont have room for full throttle and the time I was able to get into calibration I could set full throttle at half way. Also the Dails could be set for a shorter movement. And also the main control could be set for much tight movement.
I just cant figuer out how I got it the one time other then I did have another controler instaled at that time.

Production of X45s up until earlier this year used a different controller chip - I'm betting that early X45s have the calibration tab whilst the later ones are self-calibrating.

Got it in one - there's no way to recalibrate the newer X45s. Sorry.

I have two X52 units and both are too senstive in Worl War Two OnLine. It's impossible to fly since the slightest touch to rudder .. you blackout and crash.
Almost impossible to fire AA or AT gun ....same problem.
Getting 70+ FPS, so that's not the issue (user to be .. when you get 6 your screwed).
Is there a way to edit that Saitek files and make it more adjustable?
I have asked this before and gotton no answer.
Just so you know the same problem exists with MS2004, Combat Flight Sim, Heroes of the Pacific (Save your Mone!) and several of my grandsons driving games.
Any ideas from ANY body!
I'll check back here on Monday 03/11/2007
Oh! I did try that delete the VID line in registery.. .did nothing for the senestive issue.
Thanks,

Hi,
No, you can't edit the files to change the sensitivity but then you shouldn't need to. If the stick is responding correctly when you test it in Game Controllers (i.e. the cross matches what you're doing with the stick, reaching the edge of the box as the stick reaches the edge of its movement) then there should be no issues. Are you able to test the stick on another PC to see if it does the same thing on there?

I have an older X45 that has been in a closet of a while. I am trying to get it working again. I have run into the problem of calibrating it. Should the new drivers work with the older sticks?
Thank you,
Brad

Could be. Try these drivers (ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/SD_WinXP_4_3_3_1727drivers.exe) and this programming software (ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/SD_WinXP_4_3_3_1727.exe) instead.

Older X45.
No calibration tab.
Tried deleting the registry entry. No Joy!
Tried the ftp link to drivers and software. No Joy! (and deleting registry entry again)
All the axis either don't zero, or don't travel the full range. All buttons work. All axis work.
Any suggestions?
BTW, it would be nice to edit the registry directly. Any possibility of documenting it?
Thanks in advance

Test/Calibration
Installed the SD6 drives for my X45
On the Calibration window (which I do get along with a test, deadzone and about tabs), when attempting to adjust the travel on Throttle, Rudder and two Rotarys, the "Red adjustment bands" do not read/get any less than 47 and yet on the test window it shows as the travel working properly.
So to get a properly functioning joystick ingame, I must not use the calibration in my configure setup or I will get a very stuffed up set of controls.

Have you tried the new SD6 beta drivers and software from the Announcements section of the forum?

ok I have tried like every version of the drivers I can find including the sd6 beta here. my problem is that all my buttons work all my direcional switches work but none of my joystick, rudder throtle or wheels work on my x-45. now its possible that they just died Ive had it for a coupple years but for one type of input to still work and others not seems like a driver compatability issue. any suggestions?? im on winxp-pro

That could well be a hardware fault then. Try this first though:
Unplug the controller, click Start>Run, type regedit and click OK. In the Registry Editor browse to the following folders in order:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet

MediaProperties
PrivateProperties
DirectInput

If it hasn't then are you able to test the stick on another PC to see if it does the same thing on there? (just plug it in and Windows will install it using its own drivers).

Hi guys
My x-45(jc24 I think) is working properly under windows xp. But when I try to use it under windows xp 64 bits in the same computer(with the drivers for xp64), the axis on the test screen are somewhere else but the center.
I deleted the VID_06A3&PID_053C key, but it didn't work. As I didn't know what else to do I deleted another key related with the joystick, no luck with this one but the manual-calibration screen apeared. I managed to fix most of the axis, all of them are centered but the rudder control keeps working strange.
At the end I programed the joystick to test it, but the aux-switch is not working at all. When there is a profile loaded the aux-switch doesn't work(same on the test screen), but when there is no profile the switch works fine, at least on the test screen.
A driver reinstaldidn't work and at this point I don't know what else to do :(

Hi,
Yes, there's a known issue with that 64-bit driver. You need to get hold of the 64-bit beta 2 drivers and software from the Announcements section here on the forum - that includes a fix for this calibration issue that you're experiencing.

I did as you said and all the axis are ok :D
Thank you.

I had the exact same problem. My x45 worked fine for several years, i.e. I could calibrate it...until a fresh xp install, then I had no calibrate button. The new install has a bare-bones config with very little services running. i thought maybe i had shut down a dependant service, I tried turning a few at a time back on with no luck. I finally tried the Win9x driver and it works fine. I just listed my operating system as 98...I don't have to run it in compatibility mode, etc. Future reference...Hope this helps somebody.

Just to add my fix to the fray - I replaced a dying X-45 (newer) with another (older). I uninstalled and cleaned the registry, but the older drivers and the drivers downloadable from the standard page did not work. All the parts of the stick were "functional", but the axes were all very far out of center and range. The new SD6 drivers with the added "calibration" menu did the trick. Thanks!

it's a bug in the beta.
You can either programme profiles accordingly or go back to an older version (something like 3.2018) with the calibration tab (assuming that you have an older X45 & not an auto calibrating 1).

Edit:
Working now!

when ever i go to control panel/game controllers,my Saitek x45 is listed. But in properties everythings fine till i touch the controller, the Sliders/Mode squares light up red and the y axis drops to center bottom of square. The x axis works fine along with all the buttons etc. Installed the SD6_64 and the beta2 drivers along with the SST software_64 and the beta2 software.still the same,i had this fault on 32 bit xp pro so i loaded up 64 bit xp pro hoping that it was a 32 bit driver issue.i've also editored the reg as per earlier entry and downloaded the reg fix from this site to no avail. The controller is around 3 yrs old, Has it died? Thanks in advance for any fix... Sparrow8

Hi all - I am a little late to the party but thought I'd share. My pain is your gain.
Had to reformat XP few weeks ago. Dug out an old X-45 set from the closet to hook up to Battlefield 1942. Planes were pulling hard right at center position. No Calibrate tab in Controls.
Tried the reg delete but no joy.
Installed the SD6 drivers but still no Calibrate tab.
Found a driver on my old drive called "SD_WinNT_3_2_0_18master.exe". Installed it and bingo...Calibrate tab is back. I lost the Dead Zone tab but all I cared about was the Calibrate tab.
Anywho, went through the recalibartion and she's working like a champ now.
If you are unable to find "SD_WinNT_3_2_0_18master.exe" via Google search, I have the file on my share site.
***Apologeez to Admins in advance if it's not kosher on this site so feel free to remove below link. Thnx.***
