Hi everyone,
Attached is a zip file containing profiles for the three dual analogue pads. Copy the appropriate .dat file from the zip file to the C:\Program Files\Saitek\Software directory on your PC, then right-click the pad icon next to the clock and then left click the NHL 2005 option in the pop-up list.
Now play the game and the pad should work. Onbviously it's a requirement that you have installed the SST Programming software for your pad.

I´have tried this ZIP.file and i ´ll get a green box around the pad ikon down the clock on my PC screen but the NR:5 button stays locked in the game when i try to configure!!
What can i do? Is there anything to update in the game too? or what?

Hi,
When you test the pad in Game Controllers is the number 5 button locked on in there?

Hi,

Yes!
You want the Nr5 button to bee on you´re left hand when you`re playing NHL 2005.
Because, that button is combined with the others on you´re right side when you´re doing certain moves and tricks.
Been talking to Mikael on SAITEK in Sweden and we have tried out different things with no result so he wanted me to contact you.
I have also tried to switch places on buttons with help of the PROFILE EDITOR (it appears when you right klick on the pad-ikon down the clock)
With no result!!!
Can it be any drivers in the PC or the game? I have the original game and have the latest driver for Saitek and the SST software installed!
Keep in touch! would be bad if you´re pad doesn´t match the biggest SPORTSGAME! Now when you´re making really comfortable and quality pads!
Stay Cool!

WHEN YOU INSTALL THE NHL.DAT FILE IT DOESN`T OVERWRIGHT ANY OTHER FILE IS THAT CORRECT?

It's simply a faulty button - take the pad back to the store and exchange it for a new one. The button should not be locked on all the time!

Don´t think so!!
I got two SAITEK PADS P880 dual analog and both of them are responding the same way.
They are connected trough a USB HUB!

But you told me that the number 5 button is acting as if it is held down when you look at it in Game Controllers - this shouldn't be happening. The button should only respond when it is pressed.
If you plug the pads directly into the PC does this make any difference?

Hi again! What is it you´re patch is doing? the p880.dat file?
What i mean is that NHL2005 GAME has pre-choosen button five to be the extrafunction button but to play with it you want it to be on SAITEKS button Nr:7 so called Shoulder button??
Are you with me?
Right now when i try to configure the buttons are closed except Nr:7 and Nr: 8
I´ll tryed to plug the pad right in the computer not using the HUB,but then the Pad ikons down the clock didn´t appear.

The dat file configures the entire pad with keyboard commands - this is because I (and many other customers) found that the pad didn't work correctly in the game. Load the profile into the pad and then when selecting which team you want to play as in the game use the keyboard arrow keys to place the keyboard icon next to the team you're playing as. Now start the game and the pad will work.
Bentuco - I'm afraid we're not making profiles for the old controllers any more. Sorry.

Sorry but i can´t even skate when i do it the way you explain.
We are two guys who wants to play the game at a similar time can we just flip the Keyboard ikon to our team and that will do it? STRANGE?
So! On wich button do you get 5+Extrafunction??
And am i not aloud to configure the pad in my own way?
I want to shoot on button 4 and so on!
I want the button 5 to replace button 7 is it like that on your P880.dat file?
And should we flip both pad ikons in the game to our team like we always have since the first GAME NHL -95!
Hoping for a quick answer!
We ´re about to return our SAITEKS soon!
Thanks/
Hunter

Just open the Profile Editor. Now open the NHL 2005 profile (File>Open) and you can then reassign the buttons as you want them. if you want the number 4 button to be the shoot button then right click Button number 4 and choose shoot from the list of commands.
But yes, once the profile is loaded into the pad the pad's buttons and sticks are programmed with the keyboard commands from the game so you will need to select keyboard as the control method in the game.

I'm having the exact same problem with my Saitek P3000. My player just sits there until he's hit and loses the puck...then if I'm lucky I regain control until I lose or pass the puck again.
I followed the instructions above, and posted the .dat file you provided for download into the "Software" directory. I checked out the Profile Editor, and all the buttons appear fine to me...where they're directed etc....so I kept the profile from the .dat pad, started the game, and used keyboard as my method of input. I'm having the same problem.
I exited, then went to the pic of the controller beside my clock, right clicked, selected NHL 2005. Now I go back into the game, and it's working......sort of. The players are spazzes. They'll typically move towards the right, but if I try and move left, they just stand there and twitch until somebody comes along and takes them out, or I choose to go right.
Have I left out any steps?

Hi,
That sounds like the pad isn't calibrated correctly - how does it look when you test it in Game Controllers?

Hi
I downloaded the NHL 2005 Profile and selected it as a profile for my controller (Saitek P2500). When I start the game I select the keyboard as the controller. But in the game (when I try to play) I can't skate. It seems like I can do everything else. I can for example shoot and pass. The controller works fine when I'm testing it in the control panel. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks //Erik

I got the same problem too. Recently, I purchased the P3000 wireless game pad and install as instructed. When I go to control panel, the pad is working fine. The calibration looks good.
When I start the game WITHOUT using the profile, the players response occasionally. Most of the time, when player has the puck, he won't even skate, speed up and pass/shoot. But without the puck, the player is skating fine and poke check okay.
When I start the game WITH the profile, the buttons & D pads won't even work in the game menu and also during the game play.
I already download the most current driver from Saiteck website. Is anyone knows what's wrong???
Thanks

Sure the attached gam .dat file sort of works by mimicking the keyboard shortcuts of NHL 2005 but it also includes the following limitations.
1. One player only. I have 2 P3000 controllers. but NHL 2005 only like to have one person playing on the keyboard!
2. Can't disable the gamepad as a device. So NHL 2005 thinks both a keyboard and gamepad are responding. Navigating the menus in NHL 2005 using the controller is hell. Or impossible. You have to use the mouse to stop the gamepad from being selected or the keyboard. what a pain. You CAN'T use the gamepad to NAVIGATE 2005.
3. Using the keyboard seems sluggish at best.
4. NHL 2005 does detect the P 3000 gamepad but doesn't recognize the analog sticks properly i.e. the NHL player moves left and right but doesn't skate forward. Why?
The 2 P3000 were 19.95 at a boxing day sale here in Vancouver BC. They are now on for 69.95. I went to best buy today to make sure no one else wasted their money. OR is there some way to properly play NHL 2005? No garbage slow keyboard 1 person work around please.
Mike.

At the moment there's no way to make the P220 work in NHL2005 - I really dont know what EA did with this years version to cause all these problems but we are notifying them of the issues and we'll see if they are going to address it.

This doesn't seem to be just a Saitek problem, Logitech pads has the same problem too. My P2500 work in NHL 2004, EA has made a ****ty work with NHL 2005, that's the problem, and they won't admit it and release a patch.
