View Full Version : Which buttons are which?

Hi all,

I have an X52. I installed the beta software because I read it would cure the problem of this message '.dat file does not contain profile' which I started getting for some reason when I try to run a profile.

Unfortunately I can't even seem to load my old profiles now so I guess I'm going to have to redo all my profiles, which I'm less than happy about!

However, using the new beta software I'm getting buttons labeled 'fire' a-e - 'toggle' 1-6, etc.. what are these buttons? Where are they on my joystick??

The old version used to have a 3d model of the joystick so you could see which buttons were which. If I remember correctly it also highlighted the appropriate button in the prog software when you click a button. This way you knew exactly what button you were programming. In the 'control panel' the buttons are still labeled the old way (buttons 1-8, 15, 27, etc) and they don't match the new descriptions in the programming software.

So how the hell do I figure out which buttons are which?

Cheers

edit.. apologies, just noticed the message on the forum stating not to post new threads in this section

correct, the old software & new use a different file format which isn't interchangeable.

should correspond to the labels on the stick

Vista ships without a necessary file to display the 3D model (this doesn't just affect Saitek) & of course the new software is designed with the focus on Vista for the future. They are planning to bring back both the highlighted cell when you click on a button & a controller representation in later versions.

Thanks BUFF. I didn't notice the buttons were labeled that way on the stick! :D

I may as well go back to the old software. The new version isn't going to get my profiles back and seems to have less functionality.

It's actually got more functions & the release is supposed to add even more features.

Thanks BUFF.. I'll bear that in mind. My profiles aren't very complicated and I just find the older version more user friendly.
