*SST Video Tutorials*

=========================================
-----------------------------------------------------

A few weeks back i created 6 video tutorials for helping with a few topics when creating a profile. They have been uploaded for all to try. They arent perfect, and were created using the current software, not the BETA software, although the principles are the same.

I hope this helps some of you as i know the programming software can be a little confusing at first.

Two things to note:

Yes, i am a Geordie :D
The sound might be a bit quiet

Feel free to let me know what you think, be gentle.

The Tutorials

Starting the Editor (ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/support/Lesson1_ProfileEditor.zip)

Basic key assignments (ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/support/Lesson2_BasicAssignments.zip)

Activating Profiles (ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/support/Lesson3_ActivateProfile.zip)

Advanced Commands, Macros and Key Combinations (ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/support/Lesson4_Commands.zip)

Banding Axis (ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/support/Lesson5_Banding.zip)
- Usefull if you want to assign keys to an axis, for example, the w,a,s,d keys for movement to a stick.

Shiftstates/ Modes (ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/support/Lesson6_ShiftStates.zip)
- Take advantage of that mode button and switch between multiple assignments in game!

Happy Profiling.

Sean.

Great stuff, thanks. How long before we see the same thing with the new SST?

Bonjour,

Merci d'avance
A+

Hello,
I would have 4 questions to pose to you:

1) Does there exist a Saitek forum in French?

2) Do you have translations in French of the software Saitek SST before SD6, SST SD6 and of the old SGE (trés useful with P8000 or PCdash2)?

3) Do you have video French tutorials concerning these 3 types of software?

4) How to make cohabit on the same PC, a SST and an old SGE which is used to me to easily print the jackets of the keyboard of the PC Dash2?
Currently, I must make my profiles of the PC Dash2 on a second PC to be able to correctly print my jacket of keyboard on scale 1 and am obliged to convert the profile into profile SST

Thank you in advance
A+

Hi,

1. No, there's no French forum, I'm afraid.
2. No, all the old software was mostly English-only. Going forward, the SD6 software will be localised into a number of languages.
3. No French tutorials, I'm afraid.
4. No, there's no way to make SGE and SST easily coexist on the same PC. However, if you look on the CD that came with the PC Dash 2 there is a template for making layouts that you can use in most photo editing software.

They're all checking out fine when I just tried them now. Give them another go and it's also worth changing your browser to see if that makes a difference.

Hi ,
I downloaded the latest SST beta for Vista 32, when I run the editor I don't have the 3d controller picture like in your tutorial. It is much easier with the picture on the side so you can see what button you want to use ( just like the XP version)

Best regards
Jimmy

Vista doesn't incl. the .dll necessary to display the 3D Model hence it's gone.
saitek intend to bring something similar back once they have worked out how to.

I have a stupid question... What the hell does "Clear Startup" do? I see it in the right click menu of the Saitek profiler icon tray underneath "Clear Profile". I know what Clear Profile does but what about "Clear Startup"?

That would make sense but how do you set a default profile?

Bring up the pop-up list of profiles, right click on the profile you want to set as default and then click 'Set as Startup Profile'.

Hi,

Downloaded the tutorials. Get the audio just fine, but no video.

Is there something I need to do to allow video? Trying to run it in Windows Media Player.

Thank you,

JC

Well yes, the software is now dewveloped with Vista as the primary development focus therefore what's done for Vista also affects XP - hence no 3D model.

Anyone not seeing the videos needs to get hold of some video codecs. The K-Lite pack (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm) usually contains all that people need.

Sean: Thanks for the tutorials, they really help. We could hear the voice with the sound turned up, maybe our speakers are a little better. Anyway, they are a great help !

I would recommend the obvious of making sure you have all the latest drivers/software installed. Be sure you are using .pr0 profiles as tehy changed extensions and dat is no longer supported.

How can a company build a amazing piece of hardware and be so f%#ked up with the software? What the hell good is your new SST software if you dont have a damn picture or a diagram of what switch does what and where the hell its at on the hardware.
Jesus, you people drive me crazy. I have had a X52 for a couple years and wore it out. Sooo... I buy the X52 PRO and find out my old X52 profile dont work on the X52 PRO. I spent MONTHS building and perfecting this profile!!!!!!!!!!! S.O.B I got to start over again? Azzhole programers, The COUGER is starting to look pretty good to me.

Thanks for nothing SAITEK

as noted above the version of sst used in the video tutorials seems to be more user friendly than the current version available for download on the website. is there any way to get the version you used in the tutorial. i am running xp 32 bit. If not is there any instructions on the forum for the current version of sst?

Hi,

If you have Windows XP and would like to revert back to the older style of the SST, you can get the driver and SST from the ftp site.

Browse to ftp.saitek.com/pub/software

In there will be an installation of the SST that contains the number 151205.

You will need this to program, then look in the folder that refers to your controller for the driver with the corresponding number.

This version will have the 3D modela and output .dat profiles.

In the current software the button cells for the X52 Pro, and other controllers, correlate directly to the labels on the physical controllers, therefore matching joystick buttons to button cells should no be a problem.

Ok, I've been through much of this. I have an X-45 and pedals and the Cyborg Cmd pad,.. sadly the command pad is nearly useless because if I load a profile for say BF2 when I push any button the PC re-boots hmm, haven't figured that out yet and how do I save the profile I made and send it to someone else, I cant Identify any profiles in the file to send to someone so they can use it, and now that I have the newest software I cant use the 3 pos. aux switch for any keystroke cos its like holding the key down on the keyboard. I wish I hadn't gone to this software but since the newer stuff wont work with the older stuff without it I gotta make it work so short of sending my entire saitek folder to someone how do I share just the one I want?
This may not be the right thread to ask but the forum appears to be pretty small.

OMG, this is the BOMB!!!! This is for all those who learn better by example, seeing what to do before reading the directions. This video makes sense of the whole experience. Sean, excellent job! You really nailed it! THANKS :D

Too bad there's no definite place for that question related to this perephrial.

By the way, I've tried the video tutorials and the software they use is obsolete compared to the one I'm using. I bought a Saitek Cyborg Command Unit, and even though I tried like mad to configure, it's just no cigar. The interface is just too confusing  as well. That needs to be improvement #1. Try looking at other controller-mapping software like those of Logitech's or JoyToKey's for reference. Oh, and don't forget up-to-date tutorials. I REALLY don't want this cool perephrial to go to waste after almost a year of not using it.

Couldn't agree more with you Tye. Sean deserves top marks for the original effort - but the videos are two years out of date, and there's nothing else to match them at this time. You'd have thought someone would have developed the idea. Previous SST releases used to be a doddle compared to SD6. Badly thought out and implemented s/w for what essentially still really good kit. Who wants to spend that sort of time trying to work out how to programme commands? It's the sort of nonsense that invites other companies to come in, do it intuitively for the masses, and sweep up...
