you need to download the beta driver and sst software, old profiles will not work with the new beta !

You all need to get your #$@# together.

Reformated your "CPU", because of a driver fault? -what about restore points?

Lost valuable info ......... what about backups?

Who needs to get their #$@# together?

If your PC is screwed up so badly that you formated it completly, it had other problems. This couldn't have come from faulty joystick drivers alone.

The thing is with the Beta software, it won't be able to read the profiles wich where made with the software from the disk or the saitek site. But if you decide to install the beta drivers, you needed the beta SST software also if you want to use any profiles with it.

This had me fooled too. I was rather surprised that old profiles didn't seem to work and I had to make new ones. This will take time but I guess I should've read the instructions on this forum properly first. I uninstalled the beta drivers and installed the drivers and SST software from www.saitek.com again. My PC went into a spontaneous reboot once. It just shut down after it was idle for some time and restarted again with no appearant reason. I cannot prove it but I suspect the beta drivers had a hand in this.

Reinstalling the old drivers gave no trouble at all and my X52-pro is working just fine now.

since I reformated and INSTALLED THE SOFTWARE FROM ORIGINAL DISK I have had no problems using my joystick.I tried the system restore before reformating, and did not work.I was told that the restore function did not work for drivers.

guys, there may..ever so slightly may be some thruth to this. this is the EXACT reason i am here.

i had the original drivers for SST from disk on my P.C. havent changed them in several years now i believe.

for kicks i went to get the "latest drivers" and went for the BETA SST/DRIVERS.

when it says "computer needs to restart" i clicked "OK"

my computer did not ever boot back up. it would go to the XP "windows" screen, with the little blue lights traveleing from left to right. then when it should have gone to name/desktop. it went to a dark gray screen (not black) sat there for two minutes or so, then repeated this cycle. didnt matter if i did "normal" boot up, "last known good config", or "SAFEMODE". nothing fixed it.

i keep this particular P.C. very clean.VERY CLEAN whats funny is that i ran across this SAME posting as well BEFORE i downloaded the BETA drivers (i too thought what you others have said)...

AND NOW I AM HERE, FEELING THE OTHER END OF THE STICK AFTER A GOOD LONG REFORMAT! :( (and a laugh at JENO, that i now take back!)

GAU, try unplugging the stick when you boot up (it wont try and load the drivers). Then when you are in Windows, attach the latest file from C:\Windows\Minidump to your next post.
