View Full Version : X52 Pro: Profile name never shows up on MFD, always says "Mode 1 ... No Profile"

I've got a brand new X52 Pro and the Saitek rudders installed, and I installed
the drivers, all software, and the mouse/keyboard driver functionality for all
of the hardware from the supplied CDs. During install, it also looked for updated drivers, and took a long time during which I assume it downloaded the latest stuff and installed it.

All axis/button/rotator/slider appear to work fine in the Saitek control panel tester, and seem to work when I assign them either in a game/sim, or when I use the profile editor and select that profile prior to starting the game/sim.

The MFD display however, displays nothing other than "Mode 1" on the first of the 3-line display, and "No Profile" on the 3rd line of the display, even after a profile has been loaded by clicking on the systray applet and choosing a profile. I know the profile is loaded, because it works in the game, yet the MFD does not show anything on it ever, other than "Mode 1" and "No Profile". Even when I move the mode selector to mode 2 or 3, the MFD display's top line changes to 2 or 3, but the middle part of the display still reads "Mode 1 ... No profile".

Is this a bug in the driver and/or software? What can I do to get this functionality to work properly?

First off: I apologize for posting my posts in what I later determined to be the wrong forum. When I looked at first, I only saw 2 forums, but later on a whole bunch more showed up. Not sure why, perhaps I wasn't logged in the first time or something, then logged in during my post. Anyhow, I found the proper forum and will post any further things there from now on, promise.

;o)

Update on this problem: I thought I'd try reinstalling the drivers by downloading them manually from the Saitek site. I installed the following:

ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/x52pro/x52pro_171006_32.exe
ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/x52pro/sst_191206_32.exe

After installing these, and restarting the SST software, this particular problem has went away and now the loaded profile name shows up on the MFD, as well as being able to load profiles from clutch-mode for the first time! The MFD and LED brightness controls also work, albeit with the same problem others have reported in other postings in the X52 Pro support forum, of which it is claimed are fixed in the current beta software/drivers.

I think the problem that happened for me, is that I installed the X52 Pro drivers and software *first*, and then the Pro Flight rudder drivers and software, only the latter CD says version 1.0, while the X52 Pro's CD says "version 2.0" on it. This probably overwrote the newer software with the older software perhaps.

Having said that though, it was a totally end-user-innocent mistake that I think many people might easily make. As a suggestion to Saitek, I'd suggest when multiple products ship the same software, that every version of the software always checks that there isn't already a newer version of it installed on the system prior to installing itself, or at least tells the user "Version 2.0 is already installed, are you sure you want to downgrade to 1.0?"

Anyhow, just thought I'd post my success with the updated software (non-beta), and my hypothesis as to what might have caused the problems I was having.

Thanks.
