View Full Version : SST Not Seeing My X45??

When I try to run SST Programming Software I get a “Plug In Controller” window saying, “ You must plug in a supported Saitek programmable controller before you continue.”

I have re-run the complete installation of drivers and SST several times, both from the original CD (SD2.6) and using the Saitek Web Page files X45 151205 32.exe (drivers) and SST 1512205 32.exe (software). Before each new install I used Device Manager to remove all Saitek items. But whenever (before or after using the Device Manager) I open the Nuke USB window there is never a listing for X45.

The drivers seem to install OK. The Windows Game Controller lists the X45 as OK and under Test everything works.

This X45 worked fine on my old MS98se machine but I am now working up my new HP Pavilion a1620n running XP.

I noticed that during each install one window noted that the subsequent window would provide an opportunity to test the X45. But no such opportunity ever occurred.

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

Having the exact same problem with my Saitek X52.

No idea what to do. The X52 is working like a charm otherwise.

@Shooterwcw - I've responded to your other thread

@Vargtass - have you tried reinstalling the latest drivers and programming software from our main website?

Ive tried reinstalling with latest drivers and profiler-software from your site. Its what I tried last time as well.

I never had this problem with my old nforce4-mobo. I have a n680sli-board atm now.

The weird part is that the joystick shows up just fine, but when trying to run the profiler-software, it seems like it it doesnt really detect the joystick. Even though as said, the joystick shows up just fine in system manager.

Okay,

With the controller plugged in, open the System icon in Control Panel and then click Hardware at the top of the window that comes up and then click Device Manager. You will have a category at the bottom of the list here that is called Universal Serial Bus Controller. Click the plus sign next to it and tell me what it then says underneath it. Do the same for the following categories:

Sound, Video and Game Controllers
Other Devices
Human Interface Devices
Saitek Magic Bus

That's showing that the drivers are not installed. What's happening when you install the driver file x45_151205_32.exe (ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/x45/x45_151205_32.exe)? Are you not getting a test page during that installation?

Same problem, same motherboard. Windows detects the joystick without a hitch but when I attempt to install the Saitek drivers I get a prompt to plug the joystick in. Unplugged and reinserted into different ports with the same outcome. No detection.

The joystick works fine through the game controllers category in the CP. Just can't get the profiler to work without having the Saitek drivers installed which I would really like to be able to do.

BTW, I disabled power saving features on my USB root hubs to no avail.

Hi,

Same question for you then:

With the controller plugged in, open the System icon in Control Panel and then click Hardware at the top of the window that comes up and then click Device Manager. You will have a category at the bottom of the list here that is called Universal Serial Bus Controller. Click the plus sign next to it and tell me what it then says underneath it. Nevermind, I got it to work with the updates provided at the Windows Update site. Worked properly for about a day. Now I have one LED that blinks on and off randomly and the pinkie switch has stopped working out of the blue.

Before you ask, it is plugged directly into the computer and I have tried restarting, replugging the device, and cold booting to no avail. I don't think I've ever had this many problems with any PC component ever...

Oh, and this is the X52 BTW, not the X45.

Faulty button? In that case return it to the store for an exchange.

What's really weird is that the pinkie button registers movement on the throttle and makes the throttle mouse stick move right. Seems like a short to me as I just did a format/reinstall of the OS which was unrelated to this and the problem is still there. Just hope the next X52 doesn't have these problems.
